Downtown Timmins BIA Urban Park re: Street Closures (R) BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council does hereby support the Urban Park initiative by the BIA to close Third Avenue from Spruce to Pine, Third Avenue from Pine to Cedar and Third Avenue from Cedar to Balsam on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from June 29th to August 26th, 2016, subject to the following: * Parks and Recreation would supply the barricades but it would be the responsibility of the BIA to put up and take down and store barricades when not in use. * The closure on Third Avenue would be from 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning to 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening, inclusive. * Half of the street cannot be blocked off as there needs to be direct access for emergency vehicles. * There will be standard policing in this area until midnight and any additional security would be the responsibility of the BIA. * That the City be added to the BIA's liability policy (minimum of $5 million dollars) as a co-insured during this event. AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Parks & Recreation, Timmins Fire Department, Timmins Police Service and Public Works.
Canadian Cancer Society re: Relay for Life Request for Noise Exemption R) THAT Council does hereby approve and provide exemption from City of Timmins Noise By-law on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 1:00AM for the Cancer Relay for Life. AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Timmins Police Service.
Tourism Timmins re: Exemption to Noise By-law and Road Closure Request for Canada Day 2016 (R) THAT Council does hereby approve a request by Tourism Timmins for an exemption to the City of Timmins Noise By-law 2006-6339 for Canada Day celebrations to be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the Hollinger Park (Fred Salvador Park). AND FURTHER THAT Council does hereby approve holding of a fireworks display in conjunction with the Canada Day celebrations and the closing off of Water Tower Road at Brunette from 10:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. to accommodate the fireworks. AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Timmins Police Service, the Timmins Fire Department and the Public Works Department.
Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival re: Noise Exemption and Street Closure (R) THAT Council does hereby approve a request for an exemption to City of Timmins Noise By-law 2006-6339 from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. for the holding of the 8th Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival on August 26 to 27, 2016, at the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area Park. AND FURTHERMORE THAT Council does hereby approve holding of a fireworks display on August 27, 2016, at the Mattagami River from the Eacom site at 10:00 pm in conjunction with the 8th Annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival. AND FURTHER THAT Riverside Drive be closed from Fogg Street to Norman Street from 9:00pm to 11:30 pm. AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Timmins Police Service, the Timmins Fire Department and the Public Works Department
