MOTIONS OF COUNCIL HR Bielek Centre BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council does hereby approve the Elderly Persons Centre Annual Program Expenditure Reconciliation Report for 2016/2017.
Support for Noront Resources to relocate to Timmins Whereas Noront Resources has established a Ferrochrome Production Facility (FPF) Site Selection Committee who will be looking at various communities to determine the most suitable location for its’ Ring of Fire Ferrochrome Production Facility; and Whereas this facility will employ up to 350 people with skills similar a large portion of the Timmins workforce including many that will be looking to transition during the Kidd Operations closure which aligns with Noront’s construction schedule; and Whereas the City of Timmins has welcomed and supported responsible exploration, mining and processing development for over 100 years; and Whereas the City of Timmins is the hub of Ontario’s Golden North, making Timmins the ideal location for such a facility due to our central location and access to mining suppliers in both Ontario and Quebec, an abundance of local skilled labour, access to industrial infrastructure and Timmins is extremely supportive and a pro-mining community; Now Therefore Be It Resolved that the Council of the City of Timmins hereby declares that they are supportive of Noront Resources and the potential development of the Ferrochrome Production Facility here in the City of Timmins and is willing to work with Noront Resource and the FPF Site Selection Committee to make this happen.
Third Reading of By-Law 2017-8052 - Agreement with Goldcorp re: Temporary Access BE IT RESOLVED THAT BY-LAW 2017-8052 being a by-law to enter into an agreement with Goldcopr Canada authorizing temporary access for the Stars & Thunder Festival be given third and final reading and be enacted and passed.
