MOTIONS OF COUNCIL Barrier around Hollinger Park Splash Pad BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council supports the installation of a series of park benches to provide seating opportunities for park users as well as a barrier to deter children utilizing the Hollinger Park Splash Pad from accessing Algonquin Boulevard in the spring of 2020.
Conservation Authority Funding WHEREAS the Corporation of the City of Timmins is a member of the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) and has representation on the board of directors; and WHEREAS the Corporation of the City of Timmins is an environmentally conscious community; and WHEREAS the board of directors determines the policies, priorities and budget of the MRCA; and WHEREAS the MRCA provides the City of Timmins with expert advice on the environmental impact of land use planning proposals and that the Municipality does not have staff with comparable expertise or experience; and WHEREAS the MRCA provide programs and services to the residents of the City of Timmins that include recreation, education, water quality monitoring, reduction of vegetation loss and soil erosion as well as protecting life and property through a variety of measures; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Corporation of the City of Timmins supports continuation of the programs and services of the MRCA, both mandatory and non-mandatory, and that no programs or services of the MRCA or other CAs in Ontario be “wound down” at this time; and THAT the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks give clear direction as to what programs and services are considered mandatory and non-mandatory and how those programs will be funded in the future; and THAT the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks recognizes the strong and positive provincial role Conservation Authorities (CA’s) play in flood risk reduction programs and reinstate funding to the CA’s of Ontario; and THAT this resolution be forwarded to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Premier Doug Ford, MPP Gilles Bison, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority, Conservation Ontario and all Ontario municipalities.
2020 Budget Process BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the following dates for Budget meetings: November 26th, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. December 3rd, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. December 4th, 2019 at noon; and December 17th, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
