MOTIONS OF COUNCIL Downtown Timmins BIA Winter Carnival BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approve the street closure for Third Avenue from Spruce Street South to Cedar Street South (including the intersection at Pine Street South and Third Avenue) on Saturday February 22, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for Dog sled demonstrations and winter carnival events. AND FURTHER THAT if there is a lack of snow, the Public Works Department will bring in snow to be sure there is no exposed bricks for the sledding demos. AND FURTHER THAT Council approve the request for road closure signs as well as the street barricades for the requested street closure. AND FURTHER THAT a $5 million liability insurance policy be provided naming the City of Timmins as an additional named insured. AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Timmins Police Services, the Timmins Fire Department, Public Works Department, Parks and Recreation and Timmins Transit.
Redevelopment of the Golden Manor Home for the Aged BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approve the recommendation of the Golden Manor Committee of Management to process with the application to the Ministry of Long-Term Care for a hybrid redevelopment project.
Relationship Agreement between Mushkegowuk and the City of Timmins BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council adopts the relationship agreement between the Mushkegowuk Council and the City of Timmins
2020 Budget BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves a City of Timmins net operating budget of $35,115,117 and a net capital budget of $8,086,923 for a total city net expenditure budget of $43,202,040; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Council approves the budget of the other funds for POA, Fleet, Airport and Parking as presented; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Council hereby approves the budget of the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority, the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board, the Timmins Police Services, the Porcupine Health Unit, and the Timmins Public Library as approved by their respective Boards.
Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities WHEREAS the City of Timmins has a diverse population consisting of many different ethnic and cultural groups; WHEREAS the City of Timmins has historically been a meeting place for indigenous populations from throughout the region; WHEREAS the City of Timmins has seen an influx in recent years of international students choosing to study in the community; WHEREAS the City of Timmins has been chosen for the RNIPP; WHEREAS the City of Timmins recognizes the human rights of people, including the LGBTQ2S community; BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Timmins signs a Declaration to Join the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities.
