MOTIONS OF COUNCIL POA write offs BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the Provincial Offences Act (POA) fine write-offs in the amount of $329,198.25 representing 3,148 files.
2019 unaudited financial statements BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council accepts the unaudited Income Statement for the City of Timmins General Fund for 2019 and the status of the Reserves for our General Fund to December 31, 2019.
Reserve Transfers BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the request to transfer $2,254,010.00 to various reserve accounts.
Requesting Senior Government Financial Support re: Lost Revenues relating to COVID-19 (Transit) WHEREAS municipal transit services provide an essential role in helping essential workers to get to hospitals, nursing homes and grocery stores during the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic; WHEREAS the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) reports that: a. national ridership is down by an estimated 85 percent as measures such as rear-door boarding to keep operators and customers safe result in fare collection being forgone entirely; b. more than 2,500 transit workers have been laid off nationwide and route reductions are widespread; c. transit systems across Canada have requested an estimated $400 million a month from the federal government to help recoup plummeting revenues associated with COVID-19; and d. airlines such as Air Canada, in contrast, are eligible for a new, unprecedented federal program that pays 75 percent of their salary to avoid layoffs. AND WHEREAS the Federal government has yet to agree to provide emergency financial support to essential municipal transit services, yet non-essential modes of transportation that are disproportionately used by non-essential, higher-income travelers have received Federal support. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: a. the Federal government provide urgently needed financial support to Municipal Transit Operations nationwide, including Timmins Transit, to allow municipalities to continue to deliver essential transportation services to essential workers; and b. a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Canadian Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Timmins-James Bay Member of Parliament.
2019 Annual Building Inspection Report BE IT RESOLVED That Council hereby accepts the 2019 Annual Building Department report.
Downtown Timmins BIA 2020 Farmer's Market Resolution BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Timmins hereby agrees to close the following streets on the dates indicated in the request from the Downtown Timmins BIA to facilitate the Urban Park/Farmer's Market between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays from July 2 to September 24, 2020: Third avenue from Spruce Street Southg to Balsam Street South (keeoping intersections at Spruce St., Pine St, Cedar st., and Balsam St. open) every Thursday from July 2 to September 24, 2020. FURTHER THAT the city provides parking for storage units as well as the use of barricades throughout the summer and fall months; AND FURTHER THAT the Downtown Timmins BIA provide the City of Timmins with an insurance certificate in the amount of $5,000,000.00 naming the city of Timmins as an additional named insured; AND FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Timmins Police Service, Timmins Fire Department, Timmins Transit, Timmins Public Works Department, Timmins Maintenance Department and Enforcement Services.
2020-8439-Deeming By-Law re: 76 Leclair Avenue, Timmins BE IT RESOLVED THAT by-law 2020-8439 being a by law to deem lot 41 of Plan M-105-C and lot 42 of Plan M-105-C known municipally as 76 Leclair Avenue, Timmins be given third and final reading and be enacted and passed.
2020-8440-Agreement with Carrier Mausoleum Construction Inc. re: Construction of a Mausoleum at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery BE IT RESOLVED THAT by-law 2020-8440 being a by law to approve the construction of a 100 crypt mausoleum by Carrier Mausoleum Construction Inc. in the amount of $640,700.00 at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery be given third and final reading and be enacted and passed.
2020-8441 Amend Traffic By-law to have All Way Stop at Government Rd N and Sandy Falls Rd BE IT RESOLVED THAT by-law 2020-8441 being a by-law to amend bylaw 1983 - 2004 Schedule "P" respecting traffic on Government road North and Sandy Falls Road in the City of Timmins be read a third and final time and be enacted and passed.
