MOTIONS OF COUNCIL Resolution to reconsider tipping fees at landfill WHEREAS by-law 2020-8488 introduced a $3.00 flat fee for residents dropping off garbage at both the Deloro Landfill site and Tisdale Transfer site. AND WHEREAS by-law 2020-8488 additionally eliminated the 100 kg per month free threshold offered residents at the Deloro Landfill site. AND WHEREAS these fees are acting as a costly deterrent to residents taking garbage to these locations on a regular basis. AND WHEREAS this action has already increased animals, including bears, entering into neighborhoods foraging for food endangering our residents. AND WHEREAS these fee changes have resulted in some residents, reluctant to pay, opting to use sideroads for dumping grounds resulting in increased cleanup costs and unsightly messes within our community. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Timmins Council immediately amend by-law 2020-8488, Schedule N, to eliminate the $3.00 flat fee for residents dropping garbage off at the Deloro landfill site and Tisdale transfer site. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City of Timmins Council immediately amend by-law 2020-8488, Schedule N, to reinstate the allowable 100 kg per month.
