Association francaise des municipalities de l'Ontario re: Cotisation annuelle 2022 BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the Association Francaise des Municipalites de l'Ontario 2022 annual fees in the amount of $2,834.01
Coldest Night of the Year BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the Coldest Night of the Year Walk which will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, as per the attached map. FURTHER THAT liability insurance in the amount of $5 million dollars be provided naming the City of Timmins as additional named insured. FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Timmins Police Services, the Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, Timmins Transit and the Public Works Department.
Safe Health Site Timmins (SHST) Endorsement of Funding Application WHEREAS the City of Timmins received a presentation and request for support from the Timmins and Area Drug Strategy (TADS) and their partners advising Council of the city that they have been successful in obtaining approval for a temporary supervised consumption services site for Timmins; and WHEREAS they advised that the Canadian Mental Health Association Cochrane-Timiskaming is applying for a permanent, provincially funded Consumption Treatment Services Site in Timmins; now THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the city of Timmins hereby endorses the application to support a permanent Supervised Consumption Services site located at 21 Cedar Street North in Timmins; and FURTHER THAT a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Ministry of Health, health Canada, The Honourable Premier Doug Ford, the Honourable George Pirie, Minister of Mines and Timmins MPP and TADS.
Safe Health Site Timmins (SHST) Funding BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council does hereby approve conditional interim gap funding the Supervised Consumption Services Site (Safe Health Site Timmins) for a period of 6-12 months on a monthly basis of $85,833.00 per month for a cost of between $515,000-$1,030,000, and that these funds are to be repaid to the City once permanent funding is received for any period already funded by the City.
Petition to the Federal Government re: Funding Supervised Consumption Services sites WHEREAS Timmins continues to struggle with the current opioid crisis that has been impacting Canadians across the Country over the past number of years; and WHEREAS the City of Timmins took a leadership role in addressing the opioid crisis within Timmins knowing full well that it was a Federal and Provincial responsibility; and WHEREAS the Council of the City of Timmins believes the Federal Government must do more to assist the Provinces and municipalities with the handling of this national opioid epidemic; now THEREFORE BE IT RESEOLVED THAT the City of Timmins hereby petitions the Federal Government to provide additional funding to Supervised Consumption Services sites to aid municipalities with the current opioid crisis; and FURTHER THAT a copy of his resolution be forwarded to the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health, Charlie Angus, MP Timmins and AMP for support.
AMO and MEPCO 2023 Fees BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council approves the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) 2023 membership fees in the amount of $14,075.35 and the Municipal Employer Pension Centre Ontario (MEPCO) 2023 membership fees in the amount of $3,624.76.
Host Site for Evacuations re: City of Timmins BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Timmins commits to being a host site for evacuations to the limit it is able to effectively provide supports and FURTHER THAT the City of Timmins will extend its agreement with Gervais Emergency Consulting to provide services in this regard.
